Myriad Care outreach services are usually for people who live in their own homes and need support to remain independent.

Sometimes known as domiciliary care or Myriad Care, outreach provides flexible and tailored support for people generally with milder levels of autism or learning disability. People like Elliot, Namaan, Stuart, Wade and Jonathan. Special Olympian Katie. And the romantic tale of Kevin and Louise.

Day opportunities

The day opportunities you will experience with Myriad Care are unlike other. More than just a place to go during the day to get you out of the house, our day opportunities give you the chance to learn new skills, engage in your local community, gain a new-found independence and enjoy a wealth of interactive activities.

And because we are outcome based, you can expect our teams to support you with the following:

  • Community inclusion
    • including accessing leisure activities and day trips individually or as a group. We will support you to develop social skills and natural support networks.

Myriad Care and outreach services are ‘visiting support’ services to people in the community.

The support is not linked to a specific building or type of accommodation and is not normally provided by someone’s landlord.

Myriad Care services are for people who need support to live in their own community based accommodation. Sometimes Myriad Care is provided to people who have previously lived in supported accommodation such as a Lifehouse (or hostel) and who will be moving in to their own flat or house within the community. Myriad Care helps people to remain living independently in their own home. It often helps to prevent people becoming homeless by either resolving a housing crisis; or ensuring that one doesn’t develop.

People who are taking on a new tenancy might need some support to move in and set up home. For example, they may need referral for a low cost furniture package; help to connect up their gas, electricity or water; set a budget or ensure that their claim for Universal Credit or other benefits is being paid. Myriad Care workers can help to support new and existing tenants with health issues such as drug or alcohol problems or getting access to physical and mental health services. We can help with developing a range of life skills from reading a meter to helping people get back to work.

What is Myriad Care?

Basic info

Myriad Care means support that is not linked to accommodation and not normally provided by a person’s landlord. Irrespective of his or her housing situation a person might need support with issues such as budgeting, life skills, drug or alcohol misuse, avoiding offending etc. A support provider can offer this as a stand-alone service without providing or arranging accommodation linked to the support.

In principle a person receiving Myriad Care could be a tenant, licensee, owner occupier or living in someone else’s household. Typically, however, Myriad Care tends to be provided to people who have previously lived in supported accommodation such as a hostel and have recently “moved on” to their own tenancy for a self-contained dwelling. In the short term they might require some help and guidance in setting up utility accounts, budgeting to ensure that fuel charges are paid, keeping in touch with a probation officer etc.

Inspire Mental Health Myriad Care Services are flexible locally based projects designed to assist individuals with mental health needs to access accommodation, maintain their home/tenancy and develop their ability to live independently in their own community.

Each of Inspire’s Myriad Care Services is embedded in the community and responds to locally identified support needs. However the initial aim for all our Myriad Care Services is to support individuals with mental health needs access accommodation or stabilise current accommodation.

The support delivered seeks to improve the life skills and confidence of the people we work with as well as their motivation to live independently in their own community. This involves supporting, encouraging and signposting on areas such as health and personal wellbeing, safety, security, finances, managing a home and creating access to opportunities within the local community.

Myriad Care Services are time limited and Referrals are usually accepted from Northern Ireland Housing Executive and the local Health and Social Care Trust. However this may vary from scheme to scheme
